No Whites Need Apply

A current advertisement for a Trainee Broadcast Journalist at the BBC has the following stipulation:

“This internship is only open to candidates from a black, Asian or non-white ethnic minority background.”

In fact, further research into this reveals that this practice is a widespread phenomenon at recruitment agency level offering a layer of plausible deniability for companies engaging in the discriminatory practice.

Diversity quotas must be met.

It seems that “Equality of opportunity” appears to only be an ideal when it’s to take something away from white people.

The fact that this is a state broadcaster should raise alarm bells with anyone with an ounce of common sense. This blatant racism is no different to the Jim crow laws of 1920’s America. Why is it allowed? Or tolerated? Why is this not a hate crime?

Are the likes of RTE already doing this? Is it inconceivable that they would?

New Age Racism

To hire based on the fact that a person has a specific skin colour or ethnic background, under some assumption that this makes them different, is exactly the definition of racial discrimination outlined in all UN and EU conventions on rights.

Are people from different ethnic groups or with a different skin colour somehow different? Of a different value? That sets a dangerous precedent. It suggests an idea.

One that lots of angry white unemployed people might start agreeing with.
